Project Insight

This body of work sprouted from the environment of my university campus. As the beautiful architecture and trees danced along the howling winds, it occurred to me that human creations cohere with nature that create beauty and connection although being two separate entities.
Symbiosis is defined as two organisms that live together which they gain mutual benefit. The triptych strongly represents this project because it is a story about two forms of life; the woman representing nature and the man representing mankind. The woman is supported with the presence of trees in the background, the man being supported with a human-made structure in the background hence the middle landscape collapsing both forms of life together.
The title for this project is Symbiosis because it defines this body of work conscientiously. It deeply focuses on aspects of human life resembling process of growth and emotions that can be interpreted with nature through correlation. As humans we can represent emotions of anger and destruction that can be translated to wildfire, storms or raging waters that is present in nature, the stillness and silence of trees representing melancholic emotions or peace. In their contrasting paths of life, mankind and nature are challenged by outside forces that affect and change their course of action; trees can become brittle like how a humans can lose hope, grasslands can suffer droughts similar to a man feeling forsaken. These outside forces create choices, paths and difficulties that change what is represented in the beginning of each lives. growth is inevitable.
